Hot Shots for kids

If you are looking to introduce your child to tennis, IDJTA provides an introductory coaching program as part of the Tennis Australia Hot Shots program for kids. Coaching sessions are run in small groups by qualified Tennis Australia coaches and coaching assistants, where kids are introduced to tennis to gain the basics and then build on these skills as they progress through the various stages of the program.

The lessons will keep your child constantly involved with lots of activities used to challenge them and improve on their skills every week. Modified tennis equipment is used to suit in developing capability so that your child can easily pick up the technical and tactical fundamentals of the game.

Lessons are conducted for 45 or 60 minute blocks depending on the stage and number of children participating. Your child will need comfortable clothes, runners and a hat. Sunscreen is available at the Pro Shop and water or food can be purchased. IDJTA will provide a Hot Shots shirt and racquet for your child.

There are 4 easy stages for your child to progress through, starting at Blue, then Red, Orange and Green. Your child can develop at there own pace, moving onto the next stage when they are ready to do so.

It is very important at this developmental stage of your childs life they are allowed to develop at their own pace, this will ensure the technical aspects of the game are learnt and will benefit your child in years to come when playing fixtures and tournaments as well as their future enjoyment of tennis.

The various Hot Shots program stages are conducted on Saturday morning from 730am, 815am, or 830am only during school term dates and a break is taken during school holidays.
